Designing a CIP that survives a Consumer Duty review

A CIP is two things at once — an operating model that lets the firm scale, and a regulatory artefact that has to survive supervisory scrutiny. The pieces below are the build sequence, the governance structure, and the documentation discipline that hold up under both lenses.

Start with the definitional piece if the CIP question is new. Go to the build sequence if you have a CIP and need to rebuild it. Go to the shoehorning checklist if your CIP exists and you want to know whether it would defend itself.

Where this sub-hub fits

CIP design is the accumulation side. For the decumulation counterpart see the CRP and decumulation sub-hub. For the downstream work — how the CIP shows up in client-facing reports — see how to write a suitability report and ongoing service reviews under Consumer Duty.
